Speak Up ~ Stay Safe: Community Health and Safety Training
As people with disabilities become more included in their communities, they have access to greater resources and opportunities. Increased opportunities can also bring additional risks and challenges.
Funded by The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) and Employment First, The Center for Disability Empowerment developed the Speak Up ~ Stay Safe: Community Health and Safety Training. Sessions will be offered around Ohio for both parents/professionals and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Topics will include the following: healthy relationships and boundaries, sexuality and dating, abuse, bullying, harassment, human trafficking, alcohol, drugs, weapons, and online safety. We encourage people to come to the training sessions to learn more about materials, resources, identifying and reporting abuse, and empowerment.
Please share with your networks to spread the word about this important opportunity.
Sessions coming soon include Cincinnati (Dec 5 and 19), Findlay (Dec 6 and 16) and Dayton (Feb 7 and 21).
In addition sessions will be held in Toledo, Akron, Athens, Portsmouth, St.Clairsville, Columbus and Delaware with locations to be announced.
